Definition: A state of equilibrium; harmonious arrangement or relation of parts or elements within a whole; equality of distribution; symmetry; composure; poise.
When our life is in balance, both our needs and our interests get enough attention to create fulfillment and produce a feeling of satisfaction. Though the concept of balance indicates an equal distribution, in our lives it can also refer to our not neglecting important areas of our life that assist us in living harmoniously.
All life is organized in a network and delicately balanced. Therefore, making changes in one area can have repercussions in other areas. We see this in our ecosystem when our human footprint upsets nature’s equilibrium. Balance, however, is not a static phenomenon, but rather a dynamic movement that is constantly readjusting itself. Even when we walk we are readjusting and rebalancing ourselves in a dynamic motion that shifts our weight and center of gravity from one foot to the other.
When we think of balance in our lives, we often think of the interplay between work and play, our social and personal lives, or between income and expenditures. Our emotional world, too, is an important aspect of our personal lives that benefits from greater balance. Taking time to learn to move through strong emotions and find our center in the ups and downs of life can result in significant rewards.
If you have drawn this card you may it may be alerting you to the need for more balance in some area of your life. Have you been focusing on one area of interest at the expense of another? Are you needing more emotional balance in your life? Or, perhaps you have already found an equilibrium in your life that reflects an overall calm state.

Every week I shuffle and draw a card to write about and represent the week ahead. My only rule is that if I draw one that I have already written about, I draw another. In this way I am using the spirit of the cards themselves.
